Images and petroglyphs of Kokopelli, the mythical fluteplayer, are found painted and carved on walls throughout the southwest dating back 3,000 years. The Anasazi and Hopi looked to the Kokopelli to bring rain, fertility and prosperity.
In some legends the songs of his flute brought Spring, warming the earth and causing the villagers to dance the night away; in other legends the music of Kokopelli's flute brought joy and a regeneration of life.
